Margarita Luis Garcia is 39 years old, a single mother of two daughters. She and her family were abandoned by their father several years ago. She now lives in a blockhouse which the government had sold to her for $3,000, plus interest. However, until recently no payment had been made for five years.
The government accepted a lump sum of approximately $1,500, which Give a Little – Give a Lot, Inc, provided. Now, the house belongs to Margarita and cannot be taken away.
She works in fields three to five days each week. She still struggles to pay bills, but is grateful to have her home paid for, and a permanent place to call home.
