It all started in Baja, Mexico in 2003 when we heard about a woman in need of help. Her husband died, leaving her alone to raise 7 children. We began to help this woman so that her 10 year old son and her 12 year old son would not have to drop out of school to help support the family.

We soon realized that there were so many more families in need and knew that we could not help them all. Give A Little - Give A Lot, Inc. was formed to ask for your help, and to help us help others, in any way we can.

We work hard to keep our overhead low and are able to distribute 90% of the money we raise. With your very generous donations we are able to purchase, or help purchase, lots so that a church or civic group can build a house on that lot.

Meet Our Staff

Sally Bodine, President

Sally is a graduate of Latin American Studies from California State University at Chico, CA. She has done considerable volunteer work in Mexico. Give A Little - Give A Lot, Inc. was started by Sally and she oversees the fundraising and general management.

Kristyna Demaree, Vice President

Kristyna is a professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at California State University at Chico, CA. She brings to our organization her knowledge of the culture of Mexico and her fluency in Spanish. Kristyna has been the coordinator of numerous volunteer groups in Mexico and Costa Rica and understands the challenges of providing help in foreign countries.

Ann Edwards, Treasurer

Ann Edwards has always had a passion for Mexico and the Mexican people and has traveled extensively throughout Mexico. She works energetically for GAL (Give A Lot), coordinating the distribution of funds to purchase lots for qualified Mexican families. She is also active in the production and sales of our oil cloth products.

Lucia Bodine, Secretary

Lucia recently graduated from the Master of Social Work program at California State University at Chico, CA. She has worked internationally with abused women and children living in poverty and brings a young person's perspective to GAL. She is currently employed by Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services.
